Trust Wallet Token is a utility token released by and used within the Trust Wallet ecosystem. The asset was launched by the Trust Wallet team in 2020 first as a BEP-2 token and later relaunched as a BEP-20 token. Trust Wallet itself was founded and launched in 2017 by [Viktor Radchenko](https://twitter.com/vikmeup?lang=en) who has stepped down as the project's CEO in March 2022.
The main purpose of TWT is to provide benefits and incentives for Trust Wallet users. It was one of the first assets issued on the BNB Smart Chain and is based on the Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism. All of the principal use cases of TWT revolve around the Trust Wallet network. Apart from being the main payment and reward currency for Trust Wallet customers, it can also be used as a governance token for anyone who wants to participate in making decisions concerning the project’s ecosystem.
In August 2022, Trust Wallet [announced](https://community.trustwallet.com/t/solana-nfts-integrated-to-trust-wallet/538662) several NFT integrations on its platform, including Optimism NFTs, Gnosis Chain NFTs, and lastly Solana NFTs. Such integration allows users to hodl, send and receive NFTs on the mentioned networks.
