Ethereum Developer Confirms the Platform Is Ready for the Merge
Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market value, is now one stop closer to the highly anticipated Merge.
As Ethereum core developer Tim Beiko confirmed in one of his latest tweets, the Merge Mainnet Readiness Checklist has just been completed. This means that Ethereum developers have finished the necessary preparations for the Merge, including software and upgrades implementation, document release, testing, development, research, etc.
The Ethereum Mainnet is scheduled to merge with the Beacon Chain on September 15. Then Ethereum will be shifted from proof-of-work (PoW) to a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus. The Ethereum price is expected to plunge during the Merge and rise again 6-8 months after.
